I have an older computer setup in a spare room for the kids (also doubles as my PVR). I needed some kind of sound system for their learning software and video games, so I found this relatively inexpensive set of powered speakers. The wires were plenty long to reach everywhere I needed them to go, and the sound quality is actually pretty good - the subwoofer provides a little extra bass, enough that I've actually had to tell them to turn the volume down because it was interfering with a show that we were watching in the TV room (next room over). My only complaint is with the volume control, and it's pretty minor. The little black circular component is the volume control (also mic input and headphone jack), and I don't think it's the best design. My kids have figured it out, but I think you'd have to explain it to someone who hasn't seen it before. The other thing is that there is a tiny (and I do mean tiny) switch to turn off the power to the speakers. I know most people leave these on all the time, but I like to kill the power when it's not in use. I worry that this may eventually break or otherwise malfunction, but I guess we'll see. Overall, for the money, this is an excellent value and the quality (so far) has exceeded my expectations. Logitech S220 2.1 Speaker System with Subwoofer
